Crocoite Sales. Welcome to Red Lead Mine in the Dundas region of Tasmania

The Red Lead Mine was one of the first recorded occurrences of crocoite in Tasmania. The Gossan was discovered in 1890 and the mine was established in the next couple of years.

It is located in the Dundas region, near Zeehan on the West Coast of Tasmania, Australia. The mine has produced many fine specimens of crocoite, over the years and as operations continue it is hoped that more fine specimens will be discovered.

Shane purchased the mine in 1986, and has worked it for crocoite, initially as an open cut. More recently Shane has reopened an 1890’s collapsed adit in order to open up the lodes below surface. This will allow Shane to both reduce environmental impact and to access potentially rich areas too deep for open cut mining.
